Vicky Kaushal is all set to step into another exciting role after wrapping up his recent film, Bad Newz. On November 13, it was officially announced that he will be leading the upcoming mythological drama Mahavatar.
This film is being produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and directed by Amar Kaushik. It is scheduled to be released in cinemas on Christmas 2026.

Maddock’s Mahavatar Announced With Vicky Kaushal’s First Look Poster
The big reveal came with a striking poster showcasing Vicky Kaushal in a completely new avatar. He takes on the role of Chiranjeevi Parashurama, a revered figure from Hindu mythology.

What Is This New Film About?
The film’s story revolves around Parashurama, who is one of the seven eternal immortals in Hindu lore. Known for his fiery spirit, Parashurama is often depicted as an avatar of Vishnu, balancing his roles as a sage and a fierce warrior. He is known for wielding a divine axe, symbolising his mission to fight against injustice.
The film will explore his journey, highlighting his inner struggles and his relentless pursuit of dharma (righteousness).
Drawing inspiration from ancient texts like the Mahabharata, Ramayana, and various Puranas, the film aims to present Parashurama’s story with depth and nuance. It will showcase how he navigates the fine line between duty and vengeance, making his character relatable even today.
Mahavatar is set to begin filming in November 2025. This project also marks Vicky Kaushal’s second collaboration with Maddock Films, following his work on Chhaava.
