Gadar 2: Sunny Deol’s character and plot details of the sequel of Gadar is out!

Sunny Deol rewrote box-office history in 2001 with the Anil Sharma-directed Gadar, which became an all-time grosser despite a clash with Lagaan. Sunny’s Tara Singh travelled to Pakistan in search of his love, Sakeena, played by Ameesha Patel. And now we hear that the director is considering returning to Pakistan with Tara Singh, this time for his son.

“Gadar is a timeless love story that created history at the box-office. 20 years later, Anil Sharma is now planning a sequel to Gadar with Sunny Deol and his son, Utkarsh Sharma. The filmmaker has cracked the one-line idea for the sequel, about Tara Singh returning to Pakistan to bring his son, Charanjeet Singh, back,” revealed a source close to the development to Pinkvilla.

Like the original film, the sequel will be produced by Zee, and the company is excited about the prospect of sending Tara Singh back to Pakistan. However, before beginning work on Gadar 2, Anil Sharma will begin filming the sequel to the 2007 family drama Apne. The film stars Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Karan Deol from four generations of the Deol family.

“It’s currently being fine tuned and the idea is to take it on floors around September. They are planning to shoot for the film in Punjab and London. Much like the first part, this one too is set against the backdrop of boxing,” the source added.

According to the sources, Zee and Anil Sharma’s creative team is being cautious with the screenplay and taking things slowly because bringing Gadar back has its own set of issues. Tara Singh was pitted against Pakistan for the love of his life, Sakeena, in Gadar, which was a whirlwind of emotions.
