R Madhavan is set to play scientist GD Naidu in the upcoming biopic GDN. The actor has dropped the first poster of the film on his Instagram, announcing that the shooting schedule in India has begun.
R Madhavan Begins Shooting For GD Naidu Biopic
Sharing the poster, Madhavan wrote, “Need all your blessings and good wishes.”
GD Naidu was known for being the first to manufacture an electric motor in India. The film is being directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar and will cover Naidu’s contributions to science and technology.
Apart from Madhavan, the film also stars Priyamani, Yogi Babu, and Jayaram. Music for the movie will be composed by Govind Vasantha, with Muralidharan and Aravind K producing the film.
Makers Spent 5 Years For Research On GD Naidu
Producer Muralidharan spoke to IANS about the film’s progress, mentioning that the director and team had spent five years researching GD Naidu’s life to ensure an accurate portrayal on screen.
The film will be primarily shot in Coimbatore, the birthplace of GD Naidu, to maintain authenticity. Muralidhan Subramanian revealed that 95% of the film will be shot in Coimbatore, with the remaining 5% filmed abroad. Some of the overseas portions were completed last year, and the rest will be shot later.
In addition to GDN, Madhavan has other projects lined up, including the sequel to De De Pyaar De 2 with Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh, and the film Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh.
