Gulzar Saab’s Anthem ‘Badhte Chalo’ From Sam Bahadur To Inspire Indian Cricket Team In World Cup Semi-Final

The Indian cricket team will have a special motivation when they take on New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, November 15. The team will be greeted by the powerful anthem ‘Badhte Chalo’ from the upcoming biopic Sam Bahadur, based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, India’s first five-star general.

Badhte Chalo anthem from Sam Bahadur

The song showcases Sam Manekshaw as he leads his troops in various battles and operations. The song starts with a dialogue, “Wars padhna mera kaam hai aur unhe jeetna bhi” as he motivates his army men and prepares them for the war.

The anthem, which features every historical war cry woven from diverse regiments of the Indian Army, is a remarkable creation by the legendary lyricist Gulzar Saab. The song is sung by the dynamic trio of Shankar Mahadevan, Vishal Dadlani, and Divya Kumar, with music composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy. The song also showcases the real soldiers as the entire cast, ensuring authenticity and a heartfelt portrayal of the theme of valor.

The anthem ‘Badhte Chalo’ from Sam Bahadur was released on November 13, a day after Diwali, as a gift to the fans and the Army personnel.

Sam Bahadur, which stars Vicky Kaushal in the titular role, is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP and Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects. The film is slated to release on December 1, 2023, clashing with Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal.

The Indian cricket team, led by captain Rohit Sharma, will be hoping to emulate Sam Manekshaw’s leadership and courage as they face the Kiwis in the semi-final.
