Atlee is hitting the brakes on his production ventures to go all in on his next directorial. The Jawan director is working on a grand period film with Allu Arjun, and reports say he wants zero distractions.
Atlee Puts Multiple Films On Hold To Focus On Allu Arjun Starrer
According to a Peeping Moon report, Atlee’s decision has put several projects under his banner on hold. One of them was a Tamil thriller starring Vijay Sethupathi. Directed by Seethakaathi filmmaker Balaji Tharaneetharan, the film was supposed to start filming in January.
It was also Atlee’s second collaboration with producer Murad Khetani after Baby John. But when Baby John underperformed at the box office, the team quietly shelved this project.
Shahid Kapoor’s film also took a hit. Atlee pitched a script to Shahid last year, but the Kabir Singh actor was more keen to work with him as a director rather than commit to a production. Talks were still on until Deva (Shahid’s latest release) flopped at the box office. With the project still in its early stages, the makers decided to put it on indefinite hold.
Another affected film was an action thriller backed by Jio Studios. It was meant to be Veer Pahariya’s second Bollywood outing, with one of Atlee’s Jawan assistants directing. But this project has also seen no movement.
A source close to Atlee confirmed that all these delays are intentional. Atlee has paused every project under his banner to focus entirely on his Allu Arjun directorial. The source added that this is his biggest film yet, and he wants to give it his full attention. He doesn’t want any distractions until the film is done.
A Massive Period Drama In The Making
Atlee’s next film promises to be a visual spectacle. Backed by Sun Pictures, it will be a high-scale period saga with a reincarnation theme. Allu Arjun, fresh off Pushpa 2, is set to play a double role. The film is expected to start rolling in the latter half of this year, with a massive theatrical release planned for 2027.
