The sequel ‘Mardaani 2’ released around 1560 screens all over the country. Film is baaed on current issues going on in country and that makes it relevant.
The movie opened 10-15% opening and it did improve through the day as it was multiplex film anyways plus good reviews did help. Film got stiff competition from Hollywood release though other Bollywood release ‘The Body’ faired very badly.
Mardaani 2 collected 3.80 cr nett on day one which is fair result considering opening in morning show. Film grew across the board today riding on positive reviews and good word of mouth.
The movie collected 6.55 cr nett on Saturday with 45% growth. Film grew again on Sunday by 20% and collected 7.80 cr nett. The movie has weekend total of 18.15 cr nett. It added 2.85 cr nett on Monday which was little more drop than desired. Film was solid on Tuesday and collected 2.65 cr nett. Film added 2.25 cr nett on Wednesday followed by steady 2.15 cr nett on Thursday. Mardaani 2 collected 28.05 cr nett in 1st week.
Now film is running in 750 screens in 2nd week. Film collected 1.15 cr nett on 2nd Friday which was sizeable drop due to loss of screens to new release. Film jumped and collected 1.95 cr nett on Saturday. Film managed 2.55 cr nett on Sunday. Film added 1.25 cr nett on Monday which is steady followed by 1.45 cr nett on Tuesday. Film jumped big on Wednesday and doubled its collection. Film collected 2.50 cr nett on Wednesday. Film added 1.30 cr nett on Thursday. Film collected 12.15 cr nett in 2nd week. Film added 65 lacs nett on Friday, 90 lacs nett on Saturday and 1.15 cr nett on Sunday over 3rd weekend. Film collected 2.70 cr nett over 3rd weekend.
Film added 1.35 cr nett on weekdays in 3rd week with total of 4.05 cr nett. Film collected 25 lacs nett on 4th Friday, 45 lacs nett on 4th Saturday and 65 lacs nett on 4th Sunday. Film added 20 lacs nett on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each followed by 15 lacs nett on Thursday. It crossed 2.10 cr nett in 4th week. Film added 16 lacs nett in 5th week.
Film has 5th week total of 47.51 cr nett. It should touch 48 cr nett lifetime. Film has surpassed ‘Hitchki’ and ‘Mardaani’, the earlier hits of Rani Mukherjee.
