On its debut weekend, the second episode of the Telugu action-thriller series HIT did well. Adivi Sesh’s movie brought in Rs. 21,50 crores at the box office, of which Rs. 18, crores came from the Telugu states. Although the lifetime statistics of the first HIT in 2020 are almost twice as high, Adivi’s previous release this year, Major, had higher weekend sales.
HIT 2 did successful worldwide as well, with a $850K opening weekend in North America. Around Rs. 31 crores were made by Major at the international box office. The income from the Indian box office for HIT 2 is shown in the following table: 6.75 crores on the weekend, 7.75 crores on Friday, and a total of 21.50 billion rupees.
The movie made less money at the box office every day throughout the course of the weekend. Sunday sales in cities typically experience a dip, which was one factor in this decline. In spite of this, the film has already accomplished a significant portion of its goals, earning Rs. 9 crores in Telugu states as opposed to Rs. 13 crores in expenses, which should be easily recouped.
This year was no exception, with Karthikeya 2 in August being the final huge hit of the year, as the second half of the year is often a low point for Tollywood. With the exception of RRR and those three weeks in August, this has not been a good year for Telugu cinema.
