Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently sent an inspiring message to the 15 cricketers selected for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. In a video shared by the official social media accounts of the upcoming film Kalki 2898 AD, Bachchan, portraying his character Ashwatthama, motivated the Indian cricket team as they prepared for the tournament.
In this video, Bachchan starts by declaring, “Ye mahayudh hai, ab hoja tu taiyaar” (This is a war, get ready for it), setting a powerful tone. Through poetic lines, he encourages the players to be courageous, shape their destiny, and exhibit their strength on the field.

Accompanied by the background music from Kalki 2898 AD, the visuals showcase not only current players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya but also former players like Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh, celebrating their past victories.
Furthermore, Bachchan advises, “Maan mat tu jeet se kam, garv se uthe har matha, ye mahadwand hai, mahayudh, virodhi se tu nazrein mila, ab hoja tu taiyaar” (Do not belittle yourself in front of victory, let every head rise with pride, this is a great struggle, a great battle, meet the opponent eye to eye, now get ready).
The video, shared with the caption “#T20WorldCup2024 ka Shankhnaad ho chuka hai! @amitabhbachchan, #TeamIndia’s biggest cheerleader, has a special message. Star Sports lekar aaye hain yeh T20 World Cup ka Mahayudh! Are you Ready? (sic),” underscores Bachchan’s unwavering support for the Indian cricket team.

Amitabh Bachchan is a sports enthusiast, often seen attending cricket matches at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. His first look from Kalki 2898 AD was recently unveiled during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Kalki 2898 AD, a film blending Hindu mythology with a post-apocalyptic narrative, stars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone. After several delays, the film is scheduled for release in theatres on June 27, 2024.
