Homebound First Look: Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter & Vishal Jethwa Star In Neeraj Ghaywan’s Cannes 2025 Selection – A Story About Bonds That Carry Us Through

With its emotional depth, evocative storytelling, and powerhouse performances, the film is already making headlines ahead of its May 21 international debut.

A Cannes-Worthy Selection for Indian Cinema

Another feather in the cap for Indian cinema! Homebound, the newest venture from director Neeraj Ghaywan (Masaan, Made In Heaven), has officially been selected for the Cannes Film Festival 2025 and will star in the competition on May 21. The first-look poster dropped today and is already taking off on the internet – holding the theme of emotional resilience and connection.

A Story Rooted in Emotion and Complexity

As for the storyline, the film stars Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa and is being described as an evocative and personal narrative. The film is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Adar Poonawalla and will typify a complex narrative about dysfunctional families, rediscovery, and healing that will hopefully be a sensitive and cinematic film, as audiences have come to expect from Ghaywan (who is host of a National Award).

First Look Poster Sets the Mood

The first poster released reads with a hauntingly straightforward tagline – “Some bonds carry us through.” The image features a trio of oddly muted colours, possibly an interpretation of a long emotional journey.

Cannes-Bound Storytelling Powerhouse

This is yet another milestone for Indian cinema on the global stage. After the spectacular journey this year with All We Imagine As Light at Cannes, Homebound unites an eclectic cast and crew, quite possibly paving the way for India’s next global narrative achievement. Co-written by Sumit Roy and Varun Grover, featuring music and background score by Shantanu Moitra.

Performance-Driven Cast Ready to Shine

Janhvi Kapoor, who has impressed audiences in Ulajh and will soon star in Devara, will be seen in one of her most complex roles yet. Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa (best known for Salaam Venky and Mardaani 2) complete the lead cast and are destined for powerhouse performances.

BoxOfficeWorldwide Verdict

Homebound is already shaping itself to be one of 2025’s most exciting Indian feature titles for international audiences. With a premiere at Cannes, a hungrily alluring cast, and Neeraj Ghaywan‘s nameless storytelling mastery, this Dharma drama could very well be a notable defining emotional story. All eyes are now on May 21, when Homebound embarks on its international journey — one bond at a time.
