Housefull 5 Struggles With Advance Bookings As Release Nears, Sells Just 20K Tickets With 36 Hours Left

Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 sees underwhelming advance bookings with just 36 hours to release. The franchise faces pressure to maintain its blockbuster streak.

Akshay Kumar’s awaited Housefull 5 is all set to release on June 6, 2025, but advance booking of tickets doesn’t paint a rosy picture for the film.

As of Tuesday morning, the comedy from the franchise has sold only 20,000 tickets at the major national chains — PVRInox and Cinepolis — with less than 36 hours to go.

For a big-budget sequel in a hit franchise, these numbers are astonishingly meagre.

Advance Booking National Chains: Housefull 5

Here’s a ticket sales comparison before release in national chains:

  • Pathaan – 325K
  • Jawan – 290K
  • KGF 2 (Hindi) – 255K
  • Animal – 195K
  • Pushpa 2 The Rule (Hindi) – 165K
  • Stree 2 – 130K
  • Tiger 3 – 145K
  • Brahmastra – 131K
  • Gadar 2 – 110K
  • Dunki – 105K
  • Fighter – 53K
  • Sikandar – 60K
  • Housefull 5 – 20K

Notably, the brand value and ensemble cast, Housefull 5 has not yet created too much interest in ticket sales.

The film is hoping for at least 125,000 tickets sold before release to have a respectable ₹20 crore Day 1 collection. And even this would still not produce respectable numbers based on the unbelievable scale, cost (approximately ₹375 crore), and the fact it is arriving as a dual version (Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B) film.

International Markets Depict a Glimmer of Optimism

Interestingly, the film is performing far better internationally.
The early numbers from the USA, UK, UAE, and Australia suggest that Housefull 5 could be Akshay Kumar‘s biggest box-office opener to date internationally.

While the outlook may offer some cushion for the domestic box office, it will be interesting to see if the good word-of-mouth translates into healthy business for the film over the weekend.

A Legacy On The Line: Will Housefull 5 Rise to the Occasion?

Having had four films in a row that have been hits at the box office, the Housefull franchise has been one of the most bankable comedy properties for Bollywood.
Nonetheless, changing viewer preferences and the existence of other sequels such as Stree 2 and Sikandar work in unison to raise the stakes.

The promotional material for the film — namely, Laal Pari — generated plenty of chatter; however, the reception of the overall trailer, coupled with the mixed reception for the film having a dual climax narrative, led to muted anticipation.

Box Office Worldwide Verdict

With only 36 hours until Housefull 5 is released, it is less about the franchise pedigree but about whether there is a miracle in the advance bookings for Housefull 5 to achieve anything at the box office.

The international numbers suggest promising signs, but there is nothing happening on the domestic scene just yet.

For the franchise to maintain any semblance of its legacy, there will need to be more than star power — there will need to be content that connects and laughter that lands.
