Teaser Takedown Shocker: Housefull 5 Hit by Copyright Drama, Sajid Nadiadwala Strikes Back
The extravagant comic multiverse of Housefull 5 has put the brakes on what was to be a joyous laugh riot. On May 9, moviegoers expecting a riot of laughter were instead greeted by a copyright violation notice on YouTube. The official teaser of Housefull 5 was abruptly removed after an alleged copyright claim from Mofusion Studios. But Bollywood power player Sajid Nadiadwala is fighting back.
Sources familiar with the matter confirm that Yo Yo Honey Singh, who composed the teaser song Laal Pari, has formally confirmed in writing that he is the copyright holder to Laal Pari and that rights were transferred — in accordance with the law — to Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment for Housefull 5.
Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment has filed twin ₹25 crore defamation suits against Mofusion Studios and YouTube. Both parties, as parties and agents to the alleged copyright, will now have to defend against near-identical plaintiffs.
The teaser, which had trended on social media, suddenly disappeared — viewers were shocked they again received another YouTube notice stating it was taken down due to a copyright claim. Based on the opinion of one of the insiders close to the events:
“Yo Yo Honey Singh confirmed he is the only copyright holder of Laal Pari; Mofusion Studios’ claim is without merit, and the teaser was taken without due diligence. It has substantially affected the film’s digital momentum.”
To compound the issue, reports say that Nadiadwala’s team is “livid” with YouTube for acting too hastily.
“YouTube should have checked the claim. We have over 1.6 million subscribers and have never had a completely clean channel! This aggressive takedown has affected any credibility we had along with our marketing plans.”
Legal Developments
On May 12, notices of legal action were sent to YouTube and Mofusion Studios. Nadiadwala Grandson is seeking immediate restitution of the teaser — or ₹25 crore in damages from everyone involved. Nadiadwala Grandson is also looking for a public clarification to mitigate any damage to its reputation.

Housefull 5 will be the biggest Housefull yet. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani (Dostana), the movie stars a mega ensemble cast led by Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, and many more, including legendary actors Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar, and Johnny Lever. It will be released in theatres worldwide on Bakri Eid — June 6, 2025.
