Speculation around the casting of Don 3 has intensified ever since Ranveer Singh’s much discussed exit from Farhan Akhtar’s action franchise. With the project already facing delays and headlines around a compensation dispute, the latest chatter has now pulled Hrithik Roshan into the conversation, with claims that he was sounded out as a possible replacement for Ranveer.
Within the first wave of rumours, the narrative suggested that the makers explored alternate names when timelines shifted and the film’s plans did not move as initially expected. But a new update has firmly pushed back on that, with a source close to Hrithik addressing whether he was ever approached for the film.
Hrithik Roshan Don 3 Casting Rumours Get A Clear Answer
According to a source close to Hrithik Roshan, the actor was not contacted for Don 3 after Ranveer Singh had already been finalised. The source told HT City, “It is not true, Hrithik was not approached to star in Don 3 after Ranveer came on board,” shared the source.
The clarification lands at a time when Don 3 has become one of the most closely watched projects in the trade, not only for its legacy but also because the lead casting has been at the centre of ongoing discussion since the original announcement.
How The Ranveer Singh Exit Turned Into A Compensation Dispute
Ranveer was introduced as the new face of the franchise in 2023 with a title announcement, setting expectations high for Farhan Akhtar’s return to the director’s chair for the third instalment. However, the partnership later fell apart, and the fallout reportedly escalated from production delays and creative concerns into a financial disagreement.
Excel Entertainment allegedly sought compensation of Rs 40 crore, linked to pre production costs. Ranveer, however, maintained that he was not liable to pay, citing the uncertainty that comes with film development.
What’s Next For Don 3 And Ranveer Singh
For now, Don 3 remains without an officially confirmed lead after Ranveer’s departure, and there has been no formal casting announcement from the makers alongside the latest Hrithik Roshan clarification.
On the work front, Ranveer Singh is gearing up for Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which is set for a multi language release on March 19.
