Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming film, Ikkis, is not just another movie; it’s a gateway to the silver screen for two newcomers – Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia. Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, has once again made headlines after his OTT debut in Zoya Akhtar’s 2023 musical, The Archies. Ikkis marks his first appearance in a feature film and his much-awaited big-screen debut.

Joining Agastya is Simar Bhatia, niece of Akshay Kumar, who is also set to make her much-anticipated debut in Ikkis.

Akshay Kumar’s Niece To Play Female Lead Opposite Agastya Nanda in Ikkis

A report from Peeping Moon revealed that despite her mother, Alka’s, preference for private life even after producing several movies with Akshay, Simar has a keen interest in acting. Sources also revealed that Bhatia pursued her acting aspirations on her own merits and is awaiting her moment on the big screen.

While details about Bhatia’s character remain undisclosed, it’s confirmed she will play the romantic lead opposite Agastya Nanda. Reports suggest that Bhatia has already completed shooting her portions for the film, adding to the anticipation surrounding her debut performance.

About Ikkis

Ikkis, which translates to “twenty-one” in Hindi, promises to be more than just a typical film. Set against the backdrop of the historic 1971 Indo-Pak war, it delves into the emotional bond between a father and son. Nanda steps into the role of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal, while veteran star Dharmendra portrays his father, Brigadier M.L. Khetrapal.

For those unfamiliar with history, Arun Khetarpal was a brave Second Lieutenant in the Indian Army who posthumously received the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honour, for his valour during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. A memorial, Arun’s Chowk, stands in tribute to his courage at the very spot where he displayed extraordinary bravery.

Ikkis is expected to make its entry into theatres on January 10, 2025.
