Fans were confused when Raid 2 trailers came out and there was no mention of Ileana D’Cruz, who played Ajay Devgn’s wife in the original film, Raid (2018). Ileana finally broke her silence and responded to fans on Insta by luminously explaining her absence in an AMA.

In an industry that rarely shows mutual respect among one another, not only was Ileana able to explain her absence from Raid 2, but given the opportunity, she gave a shout-out to her replacement, Vaani Kapoor, writing:
“That said, I think Vaani looked lovely in all the promos I’ve seen and I’m sure she brought her own lovely charm to her character.”

As soon as Ileana’s response went viral, fans could not stop praising her. A post on Reddit that shared Ileana’s statement was filled with laudatory commentary:

What Actually Happened With Raid 2?
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 features Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, and Vaani Kapoor with supporting cast members Rajat Kapoor, Supriya Pathak, and Saurabh Shukla. Raid 2 is a sequel to the IRS officer story with a new villain and twists in the story.
Despite the recasting, Raid 2 has already crossed ₹228 crore globally in less than a month of release, marking one of Ajay Devgn’s largest hits since Drishyam 2.

In an industry that typically relies on passive rivalry and ambiguous public relations statements so as not to burn bridges, Ileana’s intelligent, calm and kind manner was refreshing. She demonstrated that being professional and friendly need not be mutually exclusive, and Vaani has set herself a tough act to follow. While Raid 2 is surging at the box office, and Ileana has won love off-screen, this is one sequel that will be celebrated for more than plot turns!
