This weekend brought three new Hollywood films to the Indian box office—How To Train Your Dragon, Ballerina, and Materialists. All three did well enough in various measures. The three films are estimated to take ₹22 crore net over the weekend, equal to the estimates for the second weekend of Housefull 5, which is showing solid performance as well.
How To Train Your Dragon Has Big Day 2
The best performer is How To Train Your Dragon, which was up nearly 60% on Saturday, with a decent start on Friday. The animated film collected ₹2.25 crore, jumped up to ₹3.60 crore on Saturday, and posted a ₹5.85 crore net two-day total.
| Day | India Net Collection |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | ₹2.25 crore |
| Day 2 | ₹3.60 crore |
| Total | ₹5.85 crore |
The film should have a very comfortable net of ₹10 crore by the end of Sunday.
Ballerina Does Very Steady, John Wick Seems To Help
Ana de Armas’ action-packed Ballerina saw modest, though steady traction; the fact that it is in the John Wick universe seemed to help. Ballerina took ₹2.35 crore on opening day (including previews) and ₹2.80 crore on Saturday, for a two-day net total of ₹5.15 crore.
| Day | India Net Collection |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | ₹2.35 crore (incl. previews) |
| Day 2 | ₹2.80 crore |
| Total | ₹5.15 crore |
It is forecasted to finish its opening weekend with approximately ₹8 crore net, which is a fair number given the genre and lack of buzz.
Materialists Gains From Weak Start
Materialists, starring Chris Evans, Dakota Johnson, and Pedro Pascal, got off to a slow start with ₹55 lakh on opening day, but by the power of word of mouth, it saw a large improvement on day two, posting ₹1.15 crore on Saturday for a two-day total of ₹1.70 crore net.
| Day | India Net Collection |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | ₹55 lakh |
| Day 2 | ₹1.15 crore |
| Total | ₹1.70 crore |
If it continues to improve, it may close its opening weekend with ₹3 crore or more and could eventually hit a ₹5 crore+ lifetime total.

Next weekend brings Disney-Pixar’s Elio, a heartfelt animation drama that will likely appeal to families, assuming the defences are not too strong from the dependables like How To Train Your Dragon and whatever residual box office is available to Ballerina at that point.

Box Office Worldwide Verdict
All in all, the trio of Hollywood releases brought some variety and decent foot traffic to Indian cinemas this weekend. While How To Train Your Dragon took flight with family-friendly content, Ballerina came out with franchise strength, and Materialists gained goodwill via its cast and content.
With a combined weekend net around ₹22 crore, while the local biggies like Housefull 5 still dominate, the Hollywood weekend is a success.
Next week, all eyes turn to Elio.
