Actor and filmmaker Aamir Khan is up for a major transformation at his production house. With projects like Sitaare Zameen Par and Rajkumar Santoshi’s Lahore: 1947 featuring Sunny Deol in works, Khan is reportedly in discussions with Aparna Purohit from Amazon Prime Video, to join forces and expand his banner.
Insiders suggest that Khan has ambitious plans for his production house and seeks a reliable partner to oversee operations while he focuses on his acting commitments.
Who Is Aparna Purohit?
Purohit, who has spent almost 8.5 years as Head of India and SEA Originals at Amazon Prime Video, is rumoured to have tendered her resignation. There are reports that she might transition from a global OTT giant to one of Bollywood’s most successful production houses.
Purohit’s journey at Amazon Prime Video has been marked by significant achievements. Joining in 2016 as Head of Creative Development, she swiftly ascended to Head of India Originals in 2019, eventually assuming her current role in 2022. Reports suggest discussions are ongoing for Purohit to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer at Aamir Khan Productions Pvt. Ltd.
While initial reports hinted at Purohit assuming a leadership position, recent developments suggest she is being considered for the CEO role. Renowned for her expertise in content creation and distribution, Purohit’s potential appointment signifies a strategic move for Aamir Khan Productions. However, the exact reason behind her departure from Amazon Prime remains undisclosed.
