Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh is teaming up with superstar Shah Rukh Khan for his next film. The director, known for his collaborations with Vidya Balan and Amitabh Bachchan, is gearing up for a big project. Under the banner of Marflix Pictures, Ghosh is set to helm a massive casting coup for his upcoming film titled King.
Initially planned as a project featuring SRK in an extended cameo, recent developments suggest a significant shift in the casting. According to recent reports, Khan will now be essaying a full-fledged role alongside his daughter, Suhana Khan, marking her theatrical debut.
Shah Rukh Khan To Headline King With Suhana Khan As Parallel Lead?
Suhana Khan, who made her initial foray into the film world with The Archies in 2023, will share the screen with her superstar father in this highly anticipated venture. Initially slated as a vehicle to launch Suhana into the cinematic realm, the script underwent revisions, transforming the project into a bona fide Shah Rukh Khan starrer, with Suhana playing a parallel lead role.
A source close to the production revealed, “The SRK-Suhana film has undergone multiple rewrites and polishing in the past few months. The project was earlier intended to be a mega theatrical debut vehicle for Suhana, with SRK merely playing a cameo, much like he did in Alia Bhatt’s Dear Zindagi. But the script has now been altered, turning it into a proper Shah Rukh Khan film, with Suhana playing a parallel lead alongside him.”
SRK Will NOT Play Suhana’s Father In King
Contrary to earlier speculation, Shah Rukh Khan will not portray Suhana’s father in the film but will assume the role of her mentor. Reports suggest that his character will be portrayed as a badass figure, often rescuing Suhana’s character from perilous situations.
As for the film’s progress, Ghosh and Anand are set to commence pre-production activities in May, with filming scheduled to begin around August–September. While the release date aims for the second half of 2025, specific details regarding the premiere are yet to be disclosed.
King promises to be an electrifying collaboration between two powerhouse directors, poised to captivate audiences with its intriguing storyline and star-studded cast. With Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan leading the charge, anticipation for this action-packed entertainer is already soaring high.
