Cocktail 2 is a highly anticipated sequel to the 2012 hit romantic comedy. Shahid Kapoor has been confirmed as the lead for the film, taking over Saif Ali Khan’s role from the first instalment. With casting news heating up, fans are excited for the latest updates.
Earlier in the day, It was reported that Rashmika Mandanna will star alongside Shahid in the sequel, also based on the love triangle. Now, the latest buzz claims that Kriti Sanon has joined the cast.
Is Kriti Sanon The Second Female Lead In Cocktail 2?
According to Pinkvilla, Cocktail 2 will follow the same love triangle formula as its predecessor, with Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in leading roles. The search for the third female lead is still underway.
A source close to the project revealed that after the success of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon are reuniting for Cocktail 2. Both actors loved the script and are excited to explore this romantic comedy. Producer Dinesh Vijan, who is passionate about the rom-com genre, believes the script is perfect to bring romantic comedies back into the spotlight.
While Dinesh Vijan previously collaborated with Imtiaz Ali on the first Cocktail, for the sequel, he has teamed up with Luv Ranjan, who is known for his successful work in romantic comedies. Ranjan has written the script for Cocktail 2 to ensure that it is filled with humour, light-hearted moments, and a strong emotional foundation.
Rashmika Mandanna Was Recently Revealed As Film’s Cast
Previously, reports from Peeping Moon confirmed that Rashmika Mandanna will play one of the female leads. This will mark her third project with Maddock Films, following Chhaava with Vicky Kaushal and the upcoming Thama with Ayushmann Khurrana.
As for the second female lead, there are possibilities that it could be Kriti Sanon as this report claimed that it could be someone who has worked with the production house before. Krtii has starred in several Maddock projects like Bhediya, Raabta, Luka Chhupi, TBMAUJ and more.
An official confirmation on the casting is still pending and only time will tell who has been cast by the makers.
Cocktail 2 will be directed by Homi Adajania and is set to go on floors in May 2025. Along with Shahid and Kriti, the film will feature a star-studded cast. Shahid will join Cocktail 2 after wrapping up Arjun Ustara with Vishal Bhardwaj.
