Nidhi Dutta, the producer and daughter of veteran filmmaker J.P. Dutta, has dismissed the rumours of legal issues delaying the sequels of Sunny Deol’s Border and Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar. She took to Instagram to slam a news report that claimed that the projects have been shelved due to legal complications.

Nidhi Dutta shared a screenshot of the report and wrote, “Dear @timesofindia please make sure your sources connect and check with me before putting out baseless crap in your newspaper.” She also added a facepalm emoji to express her displeasure.
Nidhi Dutta and JP Dutta are working on Border 2
In August, it was reported that J.P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta have teamed up with T-Series for Border 2 and have started working on the script. The film is expected to star Sunny Deol along with other actors from the original film. The source also said that an official announcement is around the corner.

A source said, “They are in advanced talks to partner with a top studio for Border 2 and an official announcement of the film and the collaboration is around the corner. While the story has already been identified from the history of the Indian Army, the writing process will begin soon.”
Border 2 and Son of Sardaar 2 are two of the most anticipated sequels in Bollywood. Border, released in 1997, was a war drama based on the Battle of Longewala during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. It featured an ensemble cast of Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Sunil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, Pooja Bhatt and others. The film was a huge critical and commercial success and won three National Awards.
Sunny Deol had told in an interview that the makers had planned to start Border 2 in 2015. But he had to pause it because of his poor box office performance. His latest film, Gadar 2, was a huge hit and one of the top earners of Bollywood this year.

Son of Sardaar, released in 2012, was a comedy action film starring Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Juhi Chawla. It was a remake of the Telugu film Maryada Ramanna and was also a box office hit.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn has also hinted at the sequel of Son of Sardaar in the past. In 2016, he tweeted a poster of the film with the caption, “Get ready for the sequel guys! #SonsOfSardaar”. However, it was delayed due to script issues and there have been no official confirmation on the project yet.
Fans are eagerly waiting for more updates on Border 2 and Son of Sardaar 2 and hope that the films will go on floors soon.
