Jaat: Complaint Filed Against Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda And Makers Over Offensive Scene Allegedly Disrespecting Jesus Christ

Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda and the Jaat team face legal trouble after a scene allegedly hurt Christian sentiments.

A fresh controversy has hit the Bollywood film Jaat. An FIR has been filed against Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, and director Gopichandh Malineni. The complaint accuses them of hurting religious sentiments through a scene in the film.

FIR Filed In Punjab Against Jaat For Hurting Religious Sentiments

The case was registered by Jalandhar police on Wednesday under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This law covers acts that are considered offensive to religious feelings. The film’s producers have also been named in the complaint.

The issue comes from a scene in Jaat, which was released on April 10. The complainant said the film has deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the entire Christian community. The scene shows Randeep Hooda’s character standing below a crucifix and above the pulpit inside a church while people are praying. Reports claim the scene shows acts of intimidation and disruption inside the sacred space.

The complainant also alleged that the release date was planned to cause outrage. “The director, writer and producer deliberately released this film during the holy month of Good Friday and Easter so that the Christians get angry and riots break out in the entire country and unrest is spread,” the complaint stated.

Protests Took Place Recently

Anger has also spilled over onto social media. Protest videos have gone viral, showing people chanting “Randeep Hooda murdabad” and raising slogans. Community leaders say the scene disrespects the pulpit and has offended Christian beliefs.

Protesters had planned to gather outside cinemas showing the film, but the police stepped in and stopped them. Instead, they submitted a memorandum to the Joint Commissioner. In it, they demanded a complete ban on Jaat and legal action against the team. They also gave a 48-hour deadline and warned of bigger protests if no steps are taken.

Despite the backlash, Jaat has been doing well in theatres. The action film stars Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, and Vineet Kumar Singh, along with Saiyami Kher and Regina Cassandra. So far, the movie has crossed Rs 60 crore at the box office.

The film marks director Gopichandh Malineni’s Hindi debut. He’s already known for Telugu hits like Don Seenu and Veera Simha Reddy. Jaat has been released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Amid the controversy, Sunny Deol confirmed a sequel is on the way. Jaat 2 is officially in the works and promises even more action for fans.
