Jailer 2: Rajinikanth Starrer May Drop Shah Rukh Khan Cameo Track After Actor Passes On Offer

The star-powered world of Jailer 2 has taken a notable creative turn, with the cameo track designed around Shah Rukh Khan no longer moving forward in its original form. The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial, led by Rajinikanth, was carrying strong chatter around a special appearance by the Bollywood superstar, but the film’s narrative plan has now shifted after the actor passed on the offer.

Shah Rukh Khan is currently occupied with King, and that commitment has taken the crossover moment off the table. Instead of rushing to plug another major name into the same space, the team is reworking the portion as part of the film’s current creative process.

Jailer 2 Cameo Track Gets Reworked

Rajinikanth is lined up for patchwork filming on June 8 or June 9, 2026, after returning from his vacation, keeping the sequel’s production momentum firmly on track as the team moves through its next schedule-related decisions.

Earlier chatter had also linked Hrithik Roshan to the same cameo space, but the makers are keeping the revised plan tightly guarded. At this stage, the focus has shifted from a headline-grabbing replacement to strengthening the film’s existing narrative around Rajinikanth’s character.

What We Know About Jailer 2

Jailer 2 continues the universe of the 2023 blockbuster Jailer, which brought Rajinikanth back as “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian under Nelson Dilipkumar’s direction. The sequel is written and directed by Nelson and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures.

The film is mounted as a Tamil action comedy and carries forward the world established in the first installment, where Muthuvel Pandian was pulled into a violent personal conflict after threats emerged around his family. The sequel expands that world with familiar faces and new additions while keeping Rajinikanth’s character at the centre of the action.

Rajinikanth reprises the lead role, while the cast includes S. J. Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar remain strongly associated with the franchise after their memorable appearances in the first film. Jailer 2 is currently positioned as a 2026 theatrical release.

Rajinikanth’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Rajinikanth’s recent big-screen run has been packed with high-visibility titles. Jailer released in 2023 and became a major commercial blockbuster, grossing over Rs 600 crore worldwide. In 2024, he appeared in an extended cameo as D. G. Mohideen in Lal Salaam. The same year, he headlined Vettaiyan, directed by T. J. Gnanavel.

In 2025, Rajinikanth appeared in Coolie, playing Devaraj. Looking ahead from June 2026, Jailer 2 remains his confirmed future theatrical release and continues one of his most celebrated recent screen avatars. Thalaivar 173 is listed for 2027 in pre-production, while the Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth reunion project, widely referred to as KH x RK, is also in pre-production.
