Deepika Padukone has joined the Atlee Kumar-helmed explosive action thriller Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan. The actress joined the cast in a small but pivotal role. Following the completion of Nag Ashwin’s Project K with Prabhas, she will film her cameo appearance during the film’s Hyderabad schedule. The enthusiasm surrounding this Red Chillies Entertainment production has increased with the addition of Deepika, who joins a cast that already includes prominent roles for actors from across India, including Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Sunil Grover, Yogi Babu, and others.
“Deepika Padukone has a powerful character in Jawan, which features Shah Rukh in a double role as a father and son. She plays SRK’s wife and features in the film’s flashback sequences. It’s a short but very important role, which acts as a key differentiator to the plot,” a source close to the project revealed to PeepingMoon.
Nayanthara has a romantic connection to the younger SRK, whereas Deepika is partnered opposite SRK the father. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was reportedly first offered this job by the producers because they wanted to reunite the Devdas jodi on film, but she turned it down. The Guru actress politely declined the offer since she didn’t think her character would have much room to grow. She expressed a wish to work with SRK on another project in the future, one in which she will play a more substantial part alongside SRK.
In addition to Deepika Padukone, Rana Daggubati will make a cameo appearance in Jawan. Both actors have essentially agreed to portray the roles and will arrive on the film’s upcoming schedule to begin shooting. Although Daggubati’s character specifics have not yet been made public, media rumor is that he would portray a villain in the movie. Jawan, which has a massive budget of over 200 crores and is marketed as a pan-Indian extravaganza, is an action movie with a broad appeal. On June 2, 2023, the movie will be released in theaters all around the world.
