Atlee’s directorial debut in Hindi cinema proved to be a game-changer. Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan shattered box office records, grossing a staggering Rs 1,160 crores worldwide and cementing its position as the highest-grossing Hindi film of last year. Prior to this, he has delivered massive blockbuster down south.
Atlee’s Targeting Hollywood Next
Building on his success, Atlee isn’t shying away from bigger ambitions. He previously hinted at his Hollywood aspirations, and now, he has confirmed that the dream is indeed in motion. “Yes, it’s happening,” Atlee declared during an interview with ABP News, adding, “It took me eight years to reach Bollywood… maybe in the next three years, you will see something there with a great announcement.”
Shedding light on his dedication to audiences, Atlee reiterated his commitment to delivering maximum entertainment. “I have been genuine to my promise. I have kept my responsibility the same,” he stated. “In future, if I ever make a Hollywood film, I will do the same.” While details about the Hollywood project remain under wraps, Atlee’s words promise an exciting announcement within the next three years.
Speaking of the professional front, the 37-year-old filmmaker is currently awaiting his upcoming production, Baby John starring Varun Dhawan. The first-look poster of the film, which will be released in theatres on May 31, was shared earlier this month. Produced by Jio Studios and Cine1Studios, it also stars Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi. The film features Jackie Shroff and Rajpal Yadav in supporting roles. It is a Hindi remake of Vijay Sethupathi’s film Theri.
Atlee Kumar Opens Up About Working With Shah Rukh Khan Again Post Jawan Success
Tamil director Atlee Kumar, who is riding high on the success of his blockbuster hit Jawan, expressed his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan and hailed him as the epitome of stardom and grace in Indian cinema. He also expressed his desire to work with SRK again.
At ABP Conclave, Atlee expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan on his fifth directorial venture and said, “I love all his films, DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, I can go on and on. For me, he is the face of Indian cinema to the world. So, it is a dream to work with Mr. Shah Rukh sir. Fortunately, I got to do that in my fifth film. God has been kind and I think I have justified that.”
When asked about the possibility of collaborating with Shah Rukh Khan again in the future, Atlee left no room for doubt. “Of course, definitely I will crack a subject better than Jawan, and I will go to him for sure. I will narrate it, if he likes, definitely it will happen,” the director asserted confidently.
