Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film Jigra is stirring up conversations, especially after the release of its trailer. Fans couldn’t help but compare it to Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, sparking plenty of buzz online.
But while both films share the idea of protecting a loved one, Alia was quick to address these comparisons at a recent press event in Delhi.
Alia Bhatt Says There’s No Competition With Husband Ranbir Kapoor
When asked about the supposed rivalry with her husband, Alia laughed off the notion of any professional competition. “I wouldn’t say there’s any competition between us,” she said with a smile.
“I’m lucky to have my husband as my best friend and a great actor. We discuss our work openly. I’ve shared things about Gangubai Kathiawadi and Jigra with him, and he’s done the same with Animal,” she added.
On Jigra Being Compared To Animal
Fans have been drawing similarities between Jigra and Animal since both explore deep family bonds. However, Alia pointed out that the similarities are only on the surface.
“People are comparing the two, but honestly, there aren’t many direct similarities, A lot of movies explore the idea of doing something for a loved one, it’s just a common theme. Animal and Jigra may share that, but beyond that, they’re different stories,” she explained.
About Animal & Jigra
Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, was a massive success when it hit the box office last year. The film followed the strained relationship between Ranbir Kapoor’s character, Ranvijay, and his father. On the other hand, Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala, focuses on the protective bond between a brother and sister, played by Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina.
While Animal was a gritty action drama, Jigra promises to be an emotional journey. With its October 11 release approaching, fans are excited to see Alia in this intense, heart-wrenching role.
