John Abraham starrer political thriller The Diplomat is struggling to pick up speed at the box office. Despite positive reviews, the Shivam Nair directorial has not yet translated its buzz into strong collections.
To give the film a much-needed push as it enters its second week, the makers have rolled out a special offer. Tickets will be available for just Rs99 tomorrow, hoping to draw more viewers to cinemas.
The Diplomat Makers Announce Limited-Time Rs 99 Offer
With the first week wrapping up today, The Diplomat faces stiff competition, especially with IPL 2025 kicking off this weekend.
To counter this, the makers have introduced a one-day giveaway offer. Sharing the update, the team wrote, “Witness a historic chapter of Indian Diplomacy and homecoming at a giveaway price, Rs99 onwards only on this Friday! Book tickets now.”
This pricing strategy aims to maximise footfall before the cricket fever takes over. It remains to be seen whether the discount will lead to a noticeable boost in collections.
Box Office Performance So Far
The film has been maintaining a steady pace on weekdays but has not seen a major surge in numbers. As of now, The Diplomat is expected to close its first week with around Rs19.5 crore.
Here’s a look at its daily collections:
- Friday: Rs4.03 cr
- Saturday: Rs4.68 cr
- Sunday: Rs4.74 cr
- Monday: Rs1.53 cr
- Tuesday: Rs1.51 cr
- Wednesday: Rs1.52 cr
- Total (Week 1 so far): Rs18.01 cr net
With IPL matches starting on Saturday, the weekend’s numbers will be crucial for the film’s survival. If it fails to hold strong, the road ahead could be tough.
About The Diplomat
Unlike high-energy action thrillers, The Diplomat leans towards realism. The film tells the story of Uzma Ahmed, an Indian woman trapped in a forced marriage in Pakistan, who finds refuge in the Indian Embassy. John Abraham plays J.P. Singh, the diplomat who leads the mission to bring her home.
John steps away from his usual action-hero persona, delivering a restrained yet impactful performance. Sadia Khateeb shines as Uzma, while Revathy, Kumud Mishra, and Sharib Hashmi add depth to the narrative.
With positive word-of-mouth, the film still has a chance to stabilise at the box office. But its second-week numbers will be the real test. Can this Rs99 offer bring in the crowds? Friday will reveal the answer.
