Junaid Khan Says Taking Ek Din To Aamir Khan Was A Mistake After Film’S Disappointing Run

Junaid Khan has made the kind of admission star kids rarely voice in public. Looking back at Ek Din, the actor revealed that taking the film to Aamir Khan for feedback changed its entire course, turning a straightforward acting opportunity into a deeply personal home production that later fell short at the box office.

Junaid Khan Explains Why Ek Din Became A Turning Point

In a recent chat on YouTube with Vickey Lalwani, Junaid reflected on Ek Din with striking honesty. He said the team had real faith in the film, but accepted that it did not land widely enough with audiences. He also spoke about Aamir Khan’s emotional investment in cinema, saying setbacks still affect him, even after decades in the business.

The sharpest revelation came when Junaid was asked whether he now discusses future projects with Aamir before committing to them. His answer was immediate: “No, because I made that mistake with Ek Din.”

Junaid explained that the film was originally supposed to be produced by Maharaj director Siddharth P Malhotra after that project. But after he arranged a narration for Aamir, the plan changed. Recalling the moment, he said, “I thought, ‘Okay, shall I have a second opinion from dad? I really like it, but maybe I should get a second opinion from him.’” He added that Aamir loved the script and told Siddharth, “Let me produce it,” calling it an emotional decision because he finally had a chance to make a film for his son.

Junaid was careful to note that Aamir is “a fantastic producer,” but he also pointed to the practical reality of working within a large banner. Aamir Khan Productions, he suggested, moves with a scale and process that can stretch timelines, something that matters enormously for an actor still trying to build momentum and maintain a regular flow of work.

That experience appears to have drawn a clear line for him. If Ek Din taught Junaid anything, it is that affection and instinct do not always make for the best professional filter. His takeaway now seems simple, keep family emotion separate from early career decisions that require speed, consistency and a sharper sense of timing.

Junaid Khan’s Career Crossroads After Ek Din

Junaid’s screen journey has moved quickly, even if the results have been mixed. Maharaj introduced him on OTT in 2024 with a performance that put immediate attention on his choices, while Loveyapa and Ek Din brought him into the theatrical arena in 2025 and 2026. Together, those releases have shaped the early image of an actor still searching for the project that clicks both critically and commercially.

That is what makes Ragini 3, currently listed as in production, an important title in this phase of his career. More than just his next film, it now carries the weight of reset and direction. After an OTT debut that sparked conversation and two theatrical releases that did not fully deliver the breakthrough many expected, Junaid’s next move looks less like a routine follow-up and more like a defining test of where he goes from here.
