Kriti Sanon is stepping into the role of producer with her upcoming Netflix thriller Do Patti. The film features Sanon in a double role, alongside notable stars Kajol and Shaheer Sheikh.
Amid the excitement for the film’s release, the makers dropped many teasers and a series of songs, including the latest track, “Akhiyaan De Khol.”
However, this new rendition has sparked controversy. It is a reworking of a beloved Pakistani folk song by the late singer Reshma. This has led to a strong backlash from some fans and prominent figures, including Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui.
Known for his role in late Sridevi’s MOM, Siddiqui recently took to social media to voice his discontent.

In his post, he shared a photo of Kriti Sanon from the song, where she dazzles in a striking red jumpsuit. Siddiqui expressed his concerns about the treatment of the original track.
He wrote, “Imitation can be flattering, but not when it means tearing apart a classic by a legend. Please show some respect for Reshma jee and the legacy she left behind.”
He further emphasised that Reshma’s music deserves honour, not to be turned into “just another sordid ripoff.”

Many social media users agreed with Siddiqui’s comments & joined him in calling out the song as disrespectful to the original artists.
One commenter said, “Thank you for saying this. What an obscene way to honour the legend that Reshma ji is. Just the audacity makes me puke.”
Another fan added, “I agree with you. Reshma ji’s song has been used for a cabaret which is highly offensive. Also a blatant disregard for folk music. Bollywood needs a wake-up call.”
While Siddiqui’s criticisms garnered significant support, not everyone was in agreement. Some fans defended Kriti Sanon and the remake, expressing their disagreement with Siddiqui’s perspective.

The song “Akhiyaan De Khol” is composed by Tanishk Bagchi, known for his contemporary remixes. The lyrics have been rewritten by Kausar Munir, with Shilpa Rao providing the vocals.
As for Do Patti, it promises to be an intriguing thriller. Sanon will portray rival twins, while Kajol takes on the role of a cop. This film also marks the debut of TV actor Shaheer Sheikh on the big screen. Co-produced by Kanika Dhillon, Do Patti is set to release on October 25.
