Tanishaa Mukerji, a Bollywood actress, is the latest celebrity to defend Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s son Aryan Khan, who was arrested in a narcotics cruise case. She stated in an interview with a major newspaper that Aryan was being ‘harassed’ on a media trial.
She criticised the media for sensationalising and insulting Bollywood. The actress also argued against the notion that Aryan’s situation is solely a result of fame’s drawbacks.
Tanishaa told ETimes, “I definitely think that in Aryan’s case, this is harassment. More so by putting the child on a media trial! This is not real journalism, just sensationalism or Bollywood bashing as you would say. Unfortunately, people have become callous towards our stars saying things like, that these are the pros and cons to being a star kid! Really? Obviously, they don’t have any compassion. This country is for all of us and people should be more discerning when looking at the evidence and think what if this was happening to my child? What would I do? Is this justice?”
Taapsee Pannu made a similar remark regarding the benefits and drawbacks of being a celebrity in a prior interview when discussing her thoughts on Aryan Khan’s arrest.
For the uninitiated, the NCB stormed a cruise ship travelling from Mumbai to Goa on October 2, 2021 evening and seized 13 grams of Cocaine, 5 grams of MD, 21 grams of Charas, 22 tablets of MDMA, and 1.33 lakhs in cash.
Officials seized Aryan Khan and seven other passengers aboard the cruise ship: Arbaz Seth Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha, Vikrant Chhoker, Ismeet Singh, Nupur Sarika, Gomit Chopra, and Mohak Jaswal. He, Arbaz Merchant, and Munmun Dhamecha were all arrested the next day.
On Thursday (Oct 14), the Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Anil C Singh would continue to argue against Aryan’s bail request in the sessions court.
