Director Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD has made a huge impact on the global box office, setting records since its debut. Featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, the film is on a trajectory to cross the coveted Rs 1000 crore mark in India.
Despite facing competition from new releases, Kalki 2898 AD has maintained a strong hold, particularly in single-screen cinemas, although some regions saw decreased collections on weekdays. However, its performance began to decline notably from the second Monday after an impressive initial run.
Kalki 2898 AD Dominates On Third Saturday Despite New Releases
On Day 12, Kalki 2898 AD witnessed a significant drop of over 69.32%, earning Rs 6.75 crore and reaching a total of Rs 219.25 crore in 12 days. This trend continued with earnings of Rs 5.15 crore on the thirteenth day (second Tuesday), accumulating a total of Rs 224.40 crore nett in Hindi. By the 14th day, it earned Rs 4.30 crore, bringing its total to Rs 228.70 crore nett in Hindi.
Interestingly, on Day 15, the film showed a slight increase as it entered its third week, collecting Rs 4.50 crore net in Hindi, slightly higher than the previous day. Its cumulative total in Hindi now stands at Rs 233.20 crore within fifteen days.
Despite facing competition from new releases like Sarfira and Indian 2, Kalki 2898 AD continued to dominate, earning Rs 4.25 crore on the sixteenth day (third Friday), bringing its total collection to Rs 237.45 crore nett in sixteen days.
On the 17th day, the third Saturday, the film saw another rise, collecting Rs 7.95 crore, resulting in a total of Rs 245.40 crore nett in Hindi in seventeen days. Kalki 2898 AD continues its upward trajectory and is expected to cross the Rs 250 crore mark today on Sunday.

The film has already surpassed a global gross of Rs 1000 crore. Last year, only two Indian films achieved this milestone – Jawan and Pathaan, both starring Shah Rukh Khan. It has emerged as the biggest blockbuster of 2024.
