Kalki 2898 AD: When The Shoot For Sequel To Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan & Deepika Padukone’s Sci-Fi Film Will Begin & What To Expect

Kalki 2898 AD sequel to begin filming in early 2025. Producers of this Prabhas starrer promise a fresh and exciting new phase.

The much-anticipated sequel to PrabhasKalki 2898 AD is officially in the pipeline, with filming slated to start in early 2025. Producers Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt from Vyjayanthi Movies shared an exciting update during the Moscow International Film Week.

They revealed that the sequel will kick off its shoot either in January or February next year.

Kalki 2898 AD Sequel To Begin Filming In Next 5-6 Months

Priyanka Dutt revealed to News18, “The filming will start in the next five or six months. Once it starts, we’ll be able to talk more about it.” The excitement surrounding the sequel is palpable, and the producers are eager to dive into the new phase of the project.

Swapna Dutt went on to add, “This time around, there’s a lot more excitement than nervousness. I think there will be a lot more planning now. Whatever we did for part one, we were all just going by Nag Ashwin’s vision. It often happens that you don’t understand most of the things until you actually see the visuals. Now that we’ve seen everything that Nagi has done and understood the way the audience has received it, we’re going on to part two with an altogether different energy.”

About The First Instalment

The original Kalki 2898 AD made a huge splash upon its release in June 2024. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film stars a powerhouse cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, and Kamal Haasan. The movie, set in the post-apocalyptic city of Kasi in the year 2898 AD, follows a group of heroes on a mission to save Kalki, an unborn child of a lab subject.

The film’s unique mix of mythology and futuristic elements, alongside its impressive visual effects and strong performances, helped it become one of the biggest hits of the year, raking in over Rs 1100 crore globally.

After its theatrical release, Kalki 2898 AD has been made available for streaming on Prime Video India in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, with English subtitles. It is also available in Hindi on Netflix India.

In the film, Prabhas plays Bhairava, the reincarnation of Karna from the Mahabharata, while Amitabh Bachchan portrays Ashwatthama, an immortal figure from the same epic. Kamal Haasan stars as Supreme Yaskin, and Deepika Padukone takes on the role of SUM-80, also known as Sumathi.
