Actress & Newly elected BJP MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut has stirred up a debate following her unusual accommodation request at Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi.
After taking her oath as a Member of Parliament, Ranaut, who is attending the parliamentary session in Delhi, reportedly asked for the Chief Minister’s suite at Maharashtra Sadan instead of a standard room.
According to a report by News18 Marathi, the actor-turned-politician’s demand raised eyebrows, prompting a response from Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut. Raut, known for his sharp remarks, suggested sarcastically that if Ranaut considers herself so important, she should be accommodated at Rashtrapati Bhavan instead.
Here’s What Sanjay Raut Said On Kangana Ranaut’s Demand
Explaining the protocol for MPs in his X post, Raut emphasised that newly elected members are typically provided temporary accommodation at state houses or sadans in Delhi until they secure permanent housing.
He highlighted that MPs from each state usually stay at their respective state bhavans or the Ashoka Hotel. For example, MPs from Maharashtra stay at Maharashtra Sadan, while those from other states have similar arrangements.
“Kangana Ranaut is an elected MP from Himachal Pradesh, so she should ideally stay at Himachal Bhavan. If the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh wants to allocate his suite to her, he can do so. But why should the Maharashtra CM give up his suite?” Raut questioned during a press conference.
He further pointed out that senior MPs are given priority for accommodation at Maharashtra Sadan, making Kangana Ranaut’s demand for a suite even more contentious. However, Raut concluded his statement with a nonchalant remark, stating, “But let it be, she is Kangana Ranaut.”

Kangana’s Political Front
Recently, Kangana Ranaut has been in the spotlight not only for her film but also for her political achievements. She ran for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi seat on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket and won by a large margin of over 55,000 votes. Speaking to ANI, she expressed her gratitude to the voters and reaffirmed her commitment to serving Himachal Pradesh, her “janmabhoomi” (birthplace).
She secured a decisive victory against Congress’ Vikramaditya Singh. Known for her vocal support of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ranaut remains one of the few Bollywood stars to openly endorse the ruling party. She has often called herself a fan of Modi.
