Kangana Ranaut’s much-anticipated film Emergency has hit another delay, as producers have been asked to make cuts suggested by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Emergency Makers Agree To Make Cuts Suggested By CBFC
On Friday, Zee Entertainment Enterprises, a co-producer of the film, informed the Bombay High Court that they have agreed to these changes. However, they need two more weeks to implement them before resubmitting the film.
Senior counsel Sharan Jagtiani, representing Zee, assured the court that the necessary cuts would be made promptly.

The Legal Battle For Film’s Certification
The legal tussle started when Emergency was set for a September 6 release, but certification issues stalled its debut. Last week, the CBFC stated that the film could only be released if certain cuts were made, as advised by the board’s revising committee.
Kangana’s production company, Manikarnika Films, and co-producer Zee Entertainment agreed to the CBFC’s demands earlier this week.
Was Emergency Certification Stalled Deliberately?
The film, directed by and starring Kangana herself, is a political drama based on India’s former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi.
It has been marred by controversy, especially from Sikh organisations like the Shiromani Akali Dal, accusing the film of distorting historical facts and misrepresenting their community.
Zee Entertainment had filed a petition claiming that the CBFC had already prepared the certificate but was withholding it.
The producers also hinted at political interference, suggesting the film’s delay was tied to the upcoming elections in Haryana.
Kangana, who is also a BJP MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, accused the board of deliberately stalling the certification process.
However, the court questioned these claims, wondering why the ruling BJP would block a film directed by one of their own members. Kangana has remained vocal about the film’s struggles, standing firm on the project despite the ongoing roadblocks.
The new release date of Emergency remains uncertain, but fans of the actress and the film eagerly await its debut once these hurdles are cleared.
