Kangana Ranaut is one of the most talented and popular actress in Bollywood. The national award-winning actress has proven her mantle as a performer in the industry. However, lately, she has emerged as a polarizing figure because of her controversial statements and comments. She even went to loggerheads with several Bollywood celebrities over different issues.
On Tuesday, the Mumbai court dismissed the extortion charge filed by Kangana against lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar. In her plea, the actress stated that Akhtar had called her and her sister Rangoli Chandel to his house in March 2016, and demanded an apology from her to Hrithik Roshan. This was during her public spat with Hrithik Roshan with whom she alleges that she was in a relationship.
The Magistrate’s Statement
A magistrate in the court said, “Asking a person to give a written apology will not come under the definition of valuable security….because no legal right is created, extended, transferred, restricted, extinguished or released.” In the plea, it is said that the accused called Kangana and her sister with “a malafide intention and ulterior motive” to force her to write an apology.
In 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput passed away and Kangana went on to give several statements. One of them was about Akhtar and Hrithik Roshan. Subsequently, Akhtar filed a defamation case against her which was followed by Kangana filing an extortion complaint against him. Her complaint was issued under sections 506 and 509.

Kangana’s Upcoming Films
Kangana has three interesting projects lined up. She is playing the role of Air Force Pilot in the action thriller Tejas, which is being produced by Ronnie Screwvala. Kangana is also directing and producing Emergency, which is based on the 1974-75 emergency. In it, she is portraying the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film is slated to release on 24 November 2023. Apart from these two, she is also shooting for a Tamil film titled Chandramukhi 2. Recently, her production venture Tiku Weds Sheru, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur, was released on Amazon Prime Video which met with mostly mixed responses.
