Popular comedian Kapil Sharma has opened up about his battle with depression and how Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan helped him during his difficult phase. In a recent episode of Seedhi Baat on Aaj Tak, Kapil Sharma shared that he had to cancel shows due to anxiety issues and was struggling with depression.
Kapil revealed that SRK once called him and consoled him for over an hour during his phase of anxiety and depression. Kapil said, “There was a day when he (SRK) was shooting in Film City near my shoot location so he especially came to meet me. He made me sit in his car and talked to me for an hour.”
Kapil went on to add that Shah Rukh asked him whether he was taking drugs, to which Kapil replied that he had never touched drugs. Kapil explained to SRK about the phase of depression he was going through, and SRK offered him some valuable advice to help him overcome it. Kapil said, Shah Rukh Bhai explained to me, “Itna tujhe pyaar mil raha hai, tu itna kyun tension le raha hai”, par woh cheez mere control me nahin thi, Sir. (things were not under my control).”

Kapil further revealed that his actions during that period were a result of his depression and he is now in a much happier place. He also credited his wife Ginni for bringing stability to his life and motivating him to be a better person.
Currently, Kapil Sharma is busy promoting his upcoming film Zwigato, which is directed by Nandita Das and produced by Applause Entertainment. The film, which also stars Shahana Goswami, follows the story of a food delivery rider who grapples with the world of ratings and algorithms. Zwigato had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and has received positive reviews. The film is set to release on March 17.
