Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli played a gritty knock in India’s ongoing fourth Test match against Australia, ending his century drought in Test cricket. Kohli’s outstanding performance came despite him reportedly battling sickness during the game.
Starting the day on 59, Kohli took a subdued approach, playing for singles and doubles, before reaching the century milestone off Nathan Lyon’s bowling. His knock of 100 runs, alongside significant contributions from other Indian batsmen, helped the team reach a total of 571 runs in their first innings.
Following the innings, Kohli received significant praise, including from his wife, Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma, who took to Instagram to commend his performance. Anushka revealed that Kohli had played through sickness, although she did not provide any further details.
Anushka took to her Instagram story and wrote, “Playing through sickness with this composure. Inspiring me always.”
Kohli’s dedication to the game, even while unwell, has earned him praise from cricket fans and experts alike.
Virat achieved the feat in the 4th Test match against Steve Smith’s Australian team and his knock was a special one, not just because it ended his century drought, but also because he dedicated it to his wife Anushka Sharma. The Indian captain celebrated his monumental feat by blowing a kiss towards his wife, who was present in the stadium.
