The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre will be the subject of a new film by Karan Johar. The film will be directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and will be based on true events, according to the filmmaker. Aside from the director, no additional information regarding this untitled project has been released.
“This film unravels the legendary courtroom battle that Sankaran Nair fought against the British Raj to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Sankaran Nair’s bravery ignited the freedom struggle across the country and is a testament to the power of fighting for the truth. The film is inspired from real life events and adapted from the book ‘The Case That Shook The Empire’ written by Raghu Palat (great=grandson of Sankaran Nair) and his wife, Pushpa Palat,” shared the filmmaker in a statement on social media.
Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor’s daughter Shanaya Kapoor will make her Bollywood debut through Karan Johar’s production firm. Shashank Khaitan is set to direct this flick.
“I’m extremely excited and looking forward to shooting the film. I have been doing several readings with my director, and been having lots of discussions on my character brief and breakdown of the scenes,” said Shanaya while talking to IANS.
Besides this, Karan Johar is also producing ‘Brahmastra,’ starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor and ‘Takht,’ a period drama starring Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, and Bhumi Pednekar.
