Karan Johar is lining up a much bigger big-screen play for Dharma Productions, and the banner’s 2028 calendar is already taking shape around four ambitious titles. At the centre of that push are RN Kao, Gadadhari Bheem, Radha Krishna and an untitled Kartik Aaryan starrer directed by Sandeep Modi, a mix that points to a clear appetite for scale, mythology and fantasy-led spectacle.
Dharma’s 2028 Films Lean Into Scale
The main 2028 drive begins with three films expected to go on floors in 2027. First comes RN Kao, planned as an espionage drama around the founder of R&AW. It is set to be followed by Gadadhari Bheem, described as a modern-day superhero film inspired by characters from the Mahabharata, and then Radha Krishna, mounted as a love story shaped by devotion, action and mythological sweep.
What makes this lineup stand out is how decisively it stretches beyond Dharma’s most familiar terrain. Instead of relying on contemporary romance or urban comedy alone, the studio is backing stories that demand larger worlds, stronger visual identity and a more immersive theatrical pull.
Kartik Aaryan’s Sandeep Modi Film Stands Apart
Among these projects, the untitled Sandeep Modi film has a distinct pull of its own. It is being developed as a mytho-creature film, a zone that mainstream Hindi cinema has only occasionally explored, which instantly gives it a fresher identity than a standard commercial entertainer.
That also makes Kartik Aaryan’s casting especially interesting. The film promises a setting driven by fantasy, lore and creature-driven intrigue, suggesting a screen world that could look and feel very different from the actor’s more familiar crowd-pleasing outings. At a time when audiences are responding to sharper visual hooks, this one has the makings of a genuine conversation starter.
The 2027 Lineup Builds The Momentum
Before the 2028 titles roll out, Dharma already has a busy 2027 ahead. Lag Jaa Gale and Naagzilla are both positioned for theatrical release, while Vishkanya, starring Rajkummar Rao and Pratibha Ranta, is also moving forward. The company is additionally developing Prosit Roy’s next with Lakshya and Vedika Pinto, along with Dostana 2.
That wider 2027 lineup gives Dharma something valuable: momentum. Rather than waiting for one giant release window, the banner is building audience attention step by step, keeping its theatrical presence active before the larger 2028 bets arrive.
Why Kartik Aaryan’s Presence Matters Here
Aaryan’s presence adds more than just marquee value. He is also attached to Naagzilla and an untitled Kabir Khan film, both scheduled for 2027, which means he is becoming part of a longer, more visible stretch of Dharma’s upcoming release cycle.
For Johar’s banner, that kind of continuity helps. If Aaryan remains a recurring face across this period, his involvement could give Dharma’s next phase a stronger commercial thread and make the 2028 rollout even easier to track for audiences.
