Karan Johar has officially confirmed that Ibrahim Ali Khan, the son of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, will be making his Bollywood debut. The filmmaker shared an emotional post on social media to express his excitement seeing Ibrahim follow in his parents’ footsteps and enter the film industry.
Karan Johar Pens Emotional Note As He Confirms Ibrahim’s debut
Karan reflected on his first encounters with both Amrita and Saif. He fondly remembered meeting Amrita when he was just 12 years old during the making of his father Yash Johar’s Duniya. “I met Amrita or Dingy… and I remember so vividly the grace, the energy & the commandment over the camera she had,” he wrote.
Karan recalled their first meeting, which included a Chinese dinner and a James Bond movie, marking the start of a strong friendship. He noted how Amrita treated him like family from the moment they met, a warmth that has clearly passed on to her children, including Ibrahim.
Karan also remembered meeting Saif for the first time at Anand Mahendru’s office. He said the actor looked ‘young, suave, charming & effortless’ at that time. The filmmaker also mentioned how Ibrahim reminded him of his father, and how the friendship between their families had grown over the years.
Having worked with both Amrita and Saif in various films, Karan shared his pride in knowing the family for 40 years. He highlighted some of their collaborations, including Duniya with Amrita, Kal Ho Naa Ho and Kurbaan with Saif, and Simmba with Sara Ali Khan. “I know this family for the heart they have,” Karan said.
He concluded, “Films are in their blood, their genes and their passion. We make way for a new wave of talent, one that I cannot wait for the world to see. So, stay tuned as @iakpataudi makes his way into your hearts and soon…onto the screens!”

Ibrahim’s Work Front
Ibrahim (also known as Iggy) previously worked as an assistant director on Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film featured Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. Now, he is ready to make his acting debut in the thriller Sarzameen, set to release later this year. The film, which also stars Kajol and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is generating a lot of buzz.
In addition, Ibrahim will star in Maddock’s Diler alongside actress Sreeleela.
