At the event attended by Siddhant Chaturvedi, Triptii Dimri, and key members of the Dharma team, Karan Johar addressed Dharma’s evolving vision. He stated, “We are very proud to have worked with women filmmakers & Shazia adds to that beautiful list! Meghna Gulzar, Ruchi Narain, Sonam Nair, Gauri Shinde have made beautiful films for us.” He went on to say, “Shazia I’m so proud of you that you’ve made this beautiful film for us & I’ll be eternally grateful to your storytelling and the emotion that you brought to this film!” These remarks place Iqbal in the company of previously acclaimed directors.

Lead actress Triptii Dimri spoke candidly about her experience during the trailer launch. She said, “I have been saying that I am very proud and very happy on being a part of this film. … There couldn’t have been a better director than Shazia Iqbal; she has given us so much freedom as actors”. Another report echoed this sentiment, adding that Iqbal “gave us the space to truly inhabit our characters without pressure” and was “calm, encouraging, always smiling, sometimes even holding our hands”.

Dhadak 2, directed by debutante Shazia Iqbal, is a remake of the critically acclaimed Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, exploring caste-based discrimination through a modern love story starring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi. The film had faced delays due to multiple rounds of censor board review and reportedly underwent 16 cuts before certification. However, Johar praised the CBFC for working with sensitivity and clarified that no creative compromises were made.
