Filmmaker Karan Johar, who hosts the popular talk show Koffee With Karan, has reacted to the online backlash that Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh faced after their appearance on the first episode of the eighth season of the show. The couple, who shared first video of their wedding, made some candid revelations about their relationship and personal lives, which did not go down well with some netizens.
Karan Johar reacts to trolling against Ranveer-Deepika
Karan Johar took to Instagram live to address the issue and gave a sassy reply to the trolls. He said, “Do what you need to do because no one’s looking. Trolling gets you nowhere. You are landing nowhere.” He added that he has taken note of the constructive criticism from the viewers and is making changes to the upcoming episodes accordingly.
Ranveer and Deepika were trolled for their statements on Koffee with Karan 8
On the show, Deepika Padukone had hinted that she and Ranveer Singh were in an open relationship before he proposed to her. She said, “I wanted to be single for a while because I had come from difficult relationships. I was going through a phase where I said ‘I just don’t want to be attached, don’t want to be committed’. And I had fun. And then he comes along, so I didn’t ‘commit commit’, until he proposed to me. There was no ‘commitment as such. Even if we were technically allowed to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other.”
Ranveer Singh also made some cheeky comments about Deepika Padukone’s ex-boyfriends and his own past relationships. Some fans found their statements amusing and adorable, while others slammed them for being disrespectful and insensitive. Some also pointed out Ranveer Singh’s expressions when Deepika Padukone confessed that she did not remember who she was seeing at the time when she was casually dating him.
Apart from this, Ranveer was also trolled for “repurposing” his story of how he met Anushka Sharma, which he told on a 2011 episode of the popular talk show, for Deepika. For his meeting with both Anushka and Deepika, Ranveer spoke of “huge doors” that opened to let the wind swoop in as he saw Anushka and Deepika in each of the instances.
After the first episode featuring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone generated headlines, the second episode of the season Koffee With Karan 8 features the Deol brothers, Sunny and Bobby, who are known for their action-packed films and family legacy. Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol appeared on Karan Johar’s couch back in the first season of KJo’s show back in 2005.
