The film, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Dharma Productions, is India’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards. This gala screening represents strong acknowledgement of the filmmaker’s evolving global footprint and the film’s growing international acclaim.
Homebound has been creating waves on the international festival circuit. The film premiered at Cannes 2025 in the Un Certain Regard section, where it reportedly received a nine minute standing ovation. It has since been screened at prestigious festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. Recently, executive producer Martin Scorsese hosted a special screening in New York, which Karan described as a surreal experience.
