Disney+ Hotstar, India’s leading streaming platform, has released the first look teaser of Showtime, a new drama series that will explore the behind-the-scenes drama, nepotism and power struggles of the Bollywood industry. Showtime is billed as “an epic saga of legacy and ambition in the world of cinema.”
The series is produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, the digital arm of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, featuring Emraan Hashmi, Mahima Makwana, Mouni Roy and Naseeruddin Shah in the lead roles. Rajeev Khandelwal and Shriya Saran have also joined the cast in key roles. The series is helmed by Mihir Desai, who will co-direct with Archit Kumar.
Showtime is one of the projects that Disney+ Hotstar had announced in collaboration with Karan Johar, who is also the host of the popular talk show Koffee With Karan, which returned this year for its eighth season on the platform.
Karan Johar unveils Showtime’s First Look Teaser
Showtime is a fictionalized account of the real-life events and scandals that have rocked the Bollywood world in recent years, such as the #MeToo movement, the nepotism debate, the drug nexus, and the media trials. The series promises to be a “deep, raw, unconcealed and uninhibited look into the battle lines that are drawn and crossed to keep the camera rolling and the audiences clapping”, according to the official synopsis.
The first look teaser is out! Emraan takes the lead as an undercover operative in this project shrouded in mystery. While the full plot remains under wraps, the sneak peek promises a gripping rollercoaster ride with its stellar cast and pulse-pounding action.

Lead actor Emraan Hashmi said he had seen “both the good and the bad side” of Bollywood.

Showtime is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra from Dharmatic Entertainment. The show will be available for streaming exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.
