Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is taking a major leap by stepping into the world of film distribution. The production powerhouse has appointed Bhumika Tewari as the Head of Content Acquisition and Film Distribution Worldwide, marking a new chapter in its cinematic journey.
Bhumika will lead Dharma’s efforts in acquiring and distributing high-quality films across multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Marathi.
The expansion aims to strengthen Dharma’s presence in regional cinema while bringing diverse Indian narratives to a global audience.
Dharma Productions’ Venturing Into Film Distribution
This marks the first time Dharma Productions is venturing into distribution, making it an end-to-end content powerhouse. The company plans to independently distribute its own productions as well as third-party films.
To support this initiative, Dharma will set up regional offices in key cities like Delhi, Punjab, Hyderabad, and Chennai. These hubs will help foster stronger connections with local filmmakers and talent.
Karan Johar expressed his excitement about this new direction. Bhumika Tewari’s Vision
Bhumika Tewari brings a wealth of experience to Dharma. Before this, she was Senior Vice President of Film Acquisition & Revenue at Zee Entertainment, where she played a key role in distributing over 150 films and programming more than 5,000 titles.
Her strategic approach to content acquisition and revenue growth has made her a major player in the industry.
