The Hindi film industry has experienced a notable slowdown over the past six months. Despite a flood of announcements, only a handful of films have actually started production.
However, significant developments are happening behind the scenes. Kartik Aaryan is set to revamp his lineup, Ayushmann Khurrana will shoot his next in a few months and more.
Kartik Aaryan Gears Up For PPW2 & Anurag Basu’s next
According to industry insiders, his next three films will be Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, and an untitled love story directed by Anurag Basu.
“Kartik was supposed to start two films this year – the Vishal Bhardwaj-directed Arjan Ustara produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and an untitled film directed by Sandeep Modi, produced by Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor. However, both films are on hold as Kartik has allocated his dates for Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 and Anurag Basu’s next,” revealed an industry source to Pinkvilla. The source added that Kartik wishes to return to his beloved comedy genre soon.
Ayushmann Khurrana’s New Projects
Meanwhile, Ayushmann Khurrana has also scheduled his upcoming projects. He will first work on a spy comedy produced by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga, followed by a horror comedy produced by Dinesh Vijan.
“Ayushmann is looking to stay in the comedy space. After the Dharma production, he will join Maddock’s horror comedy universe. His film with Rashmika Mandanna, tentatively titled Thamma, is set to begin filming in November 2024,” the source disclosed to the portal.
Additionally, Ayushmann is in talks with Raaj Shaandilyaa for an all-out comedy film, set to start in mid-2025.
Rohit Dhawan Teams Up With Sajid Nadiadwala
Rohit Dhawan is also gearing up for a new project. With Rambo no longer in the works, he has signed on to create a comedy film with producer Sajid Nadiadwala.
“Rohit is developing a two-hero comedy, and the scriptwriting is currently underway,” the source revealed.
Hombale Films Ventures Into Hindi Cinema
Bangalore’s leading production house, Hombale Films, known for the KGF and Kantara franchises, is planning to produce original Hindi films.
“Hombale Films is laying the groundwork to establish their banner in the Hindi film industry. If everything goes as planned, an announcement will be made soon regarding their new Hindi ventures,” concluded the source.
