Dharma Productions & Mahaveer Jain Films have surprisingly revealed Naagzilla. With lead Kartik Aaryan playing the role of an Ichchhadhari Naag, the bizarre fantasy comedy is set to unleash in cinemas on Nag Panchami, 14 August 2026.
To your surprise, it’s true. Kartik Aaryan will be seen making his way into Indian folklore as Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand, and for good reason; the name is eccentric, just like the universe Dharma and Mahaveer Jain are building around him. The film is directed by Mrigdeep Singh Lamba, who also directed the blockbuster cult hit Fukrey, and scripted by Gautam Mehra.
Folklore Meets Full-On Madness
Aaryan’s teammate was quick to point out that it was Naagzilla, the massive blockbuster next to Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, waiting to hit the cinemas for Valentine’s in 2025, his first and junior endeavour with Dharma.
It’s pretty hard to digest the first look at DK’s – Dharma Productions jump into the mythical world and at the same time keep the full swag on.
What’s It About?
Naagzilla is assuredly the first instalment in an enduring partnership between Dharma & Mahaveer Jain Films, with ads coming through with Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Mrighdeep Lamba, and Sujit Jane in this fabulous, ridiculous entertainer; it’s bound to be a blast, shared by producer Mahaveer Jain.
Despite the lack of specifics, we understand that Naagzilla will follow Pyare Chand on a wild escapade of shapeshifting, battling charismatic foes and prolix prophecies (and perhaps nosy neighbours). Naagzilla promises to bring ancient mythology with Bollywood lore, all told with a heavy dose of madness that comes with Mrighdeep Lamba.
This isn’t fantasy gone wrong— this is Dharmatic desi, desi swagger in all its glory, fully fancy, fully filmy. And it’s Karthik we are talking about; we know that the humour, sarcasm and self-awareness would be sublime, while supremacy, all of course, undeniable.
Slithering Into Cinemas On Nag Panchami!
The movie is set to release on the inaugural day of Nag Panchami, which adds to the buzz of the film. The 14th August 2026 slated date serves as a plus point both spiritually and commercially. Fans have already started calling it “The Ekta-fication of Dharma”, and quite frankly, we’re all for it.
We hear Dharma and Mahaveer Jain Films are collaborating. If Naagzilla wows the audience, this would be the starting point for India’s most epic folklore franchise.
