Katrina Kaif Reveals She Was Supposed To Be ‘The Fourth Girl’ In Ranbir Kapoor And Deepika Padukone’s Bachna Ae Haseeno

Katrina Kaif, who has been in the film industry for over two decades, recently opened up about her early struggles and rejections.

Katrina Kaif on getting cast in Bachna Ae Haseeno

In an interview with Mid Day, the actress revealed that she was initially cast as the fourth girl in Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s 2008 romantic comedy Bachna Ae Haseeno, but her role was later scrapped.

“I was the fourth girl, that character got cut,” Katrina said. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, followed Ranbir’s character as he romanced three different women at different stages of his life, played by Minissha Lamba, Bipasha Basu, and Deepika Padukone. Katrina did not disclose the reason behind her role being cut or how it affected her relationship with Ranbir, who she dated for a few years after working with him in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Raajneeti.

Katrina on facing criticism within Bollywood

Katrina also shared that she faced a lot of criticism and negativity from people who told her that she would never succeed in Bollywood. “I have so many memories of people telling me to my face that you will not make it, you cannot succeed,” she recalled. However, the actress did not let the naysayers deter her and went on to prove her mettle with films like Namastey London, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Ek Tha Tiger, and Zero.

Katrina expressed desire to play Anushka’s role in Zero

Katrina Kaif also expressed her desire to play Anushka Sharma’s role in Zero, which also starred Shah Rukh Khan. Katrina played a superstar named Babita, who suffers from alcoholism and depression, and received rave reviews for her performance.

On the work front, Katrina was last seen in Sriram Raghavan’s ‘Merry Christmas‘, alongside Vijay Sethupathi. The mystery thriller was released on January 12 and received outstanding reviews. She will also star in an all-female buddy film ‘Jee Le Zaraa‘, directed by Farhan Akhtar, starring Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra.
