Akshay Kumar and makers have officially announced the much-awaited Kesari Chapter 2, which is a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Kesari with a fresh story.
The actor took to social media to share a promo video and gave fans a glimpse of what’s coming next. The short clip featured bold text that reads, “A revolution painted in courage. Kesari Chapter 2.”
Along with this, Akshay confirmed that the film’s teaser will be out on March 24. He also revealed that the film will have a worldwide release on April 18, 2025.
Karan Johar also shared the same update and his official Instagram handle and wrote, “Kuch ladaaiyan hathiyaaron se nahi ladi jaati. #KesariChapter2 teaser out on 24th March. In cinemas on 18th April, worldwide.”
About The Sequel
Unlike its predecessor, which showcased the Battle of Saragarhi, Kesari Chapter 2 will take audiences back to another significant event in India’s history – the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919.
The film will explore the legal battle fought by barrister C. Sankaran Nair, who challenged the British Empire to uncover the truth behind the horrific tragedy.
Based on The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, the film highlights the courageous efforts of C. Sankaran Nair, a former President of the Indian National Congress. His relentless fight against British authorities remains one of the most compelling yet lesser-known stories of India’s struggle for justice.
Kesari Chapter 2 brings together an impressive cast. Akshay Kumar will be joined by R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in key roles. The film is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films.
Initially set for a March 14, 2025 release, the film has now been pushed to April 18, 2025. The updated title, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, hints at a gripping narrative that will bring hidden truths to light.
Kesari marked its sixth anniversary recently amid praises for its portrayal of Sikh bravery. It will be interesting to see how the sequel will unfold, especially with a fresh historical angle and an intense courtroom drama at its core.
