Kiara Advani Not Part Of Madhubala Biopic, Industry Source Shuts Down Sanjay Leela Bhansali Production Rumours

Rumours around a big, glossy biopic on screen legend Madhubala lit up social media this week, with chatter claiming Kiara Advani would step into the icon’s shoes and that the film would be mounted with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s backing. Given the scale usually associated with Bhansali-associated cinema and Madhubala’s towering legacy, the buzz travelled fast.

But as of March 7, 2026, the development has been firmly denied.

Latest Update: “Absolutely No Truth” To Kiara Advani Being Cast

A clear clarification from an industry source has dismissed the casting chatter linking Kiara to a Madhubala biopic said to be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The source stated, “There is absolutely no truth to the reports currently circulating about Kiara Advani being cast in a Madhubala biopic produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The claims are completely baseless.”

The denial effectively puts the brakes on the day’s most viral casting claim, especially since the speculation had positioned the project as a potential “return” vehicle for the actress.

For now, neither Kiara Advani nor Sanjay Leela Bhansali has made any public statement addressing the rumours.

Madhubala remains one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated stars, remembered for films such as Mughal-e-Azam and Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi. Her life story has long attracted interest for adaptation, but this latest round of online excitement around Kiara’s involvement has been categorically shot down by the source.

Kiara Advani’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Kiara was last seen in Sameer Vidwans’ romantic drama Satyaprem Ki Katha (2023), co-starring Kartik Aaryan. Before that, she featured in Govinda Naam Mera (2022), which premiered on Disney+ Hotstar, alongside Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar. In theatres, she had a strong run in 2022 with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which emerged as a major hit, and JugJugg Jeeyo.

On the upcoming front, Kiara has a busy line-up across industries. She is part of Yash Raj Films’ action tentpole War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji and led by Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, which is scheduled for an August 14, 2025 theatrical release. She also features in Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas, with Kiara introduced as Nadia and a March 19, 2026 release date announced by the makers.
