The buzz around Kill is palpable, and for good reason. This highly anticipated action thriller, touted as India’s most violent film, promises relentless bloodshed, intense action, and brutal violence.
The plot centres on a group of unsuspecting train passengers who suddenly find themselves battling over 40 ruthless bandits. With rising stars Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, and Tanya Maniktala leading the cast, the film is set entirely on a train, which is as much a character in the movie as any of the actors.
Kill Production Designer Mayur Sharma REVEALS The Process Of Making A Realistic Train Set
The standout element of Kill is its train setting, brought to life by production designer Mayur Sharma. Sharma took on the formidable task of creating a realistic train set from scratch. “I’ve built dams, mandirs, palaces, but never a train,” Sharma remarked, highlighting the unique challenge this project presented.
Discussing the film’s intense action sequences, producer Guneet Monga shared, “The idea was to do a train robbery nonstop in a confined place.” This confined space meant that the film needed a highly versatile and realistic set.
Director Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt explained that shooting on a real train would have been impossible for the kind of dynamic shots they envisioned. “We needed to shoot from all angles, and a real train just wouldn’t allow that,” Bhatt noted.
To create a believable environment, Sharma and his team paid meticulous attention to detail. “80% of Indian people travel by train, so they know what one looks like. You can’t cheat them,” Sharma explained.
He emphasised that the train set was constructed using the same materials as real trains. “The important part is how every piece of the train can move to serve the purpose of the shot,” he added, underscoring the functionality of the set.
