King: Deepika Padukone Jumps Into Action With Shah Rukh Khan Soon After Pregnancy Announcement

Deepika Padukone is wasting no time easing into her next big-screen chapter. Just days after announcing her pregnancy, the actor is back on set and already filming an intense action sequence with Shah Rukh Khan for King, giving the high-profile project an added surge of glamour, curiosity, and momentum. In an industry that thrives on timing and image, her swift return to a demanding action setup has instantly become the talking point around the film.

Deepika Enters King At Full Throttle

The latest update from King is that Deepika has officially joined the shoot and stepped straight into a major action sequence with Shah Rukh Khan. Soon after announcing her second pregnancy on April 19, it has been work as usual for Deepika Padukone. The actor returned to the set of King on April 21, kicking off a two-day shoot of an action set-piece alongside leading man Shah Rukh Khan.

Sources revealed that true to his style, filmmaker Siddharth Anand envisioned a hyper-stylised fight sequence that sees the two superstars in combat with eight fighters. An insider shared, “Shah Rukh and Deepika filmed the scene on April 21 and 22, with the latter dressed in an all-white outfit. A special set was constructed at Golden Tobacco Studio in Vile Parle. The combat choreography is in line with the film’s larger-than-life treatment.”

More adrenaline rush seems to be in store for Padukone, as far as King’s shoot is concerned. The source added, “Siddharth has planned another elaborate set-piece against a sandy backdrop. It will be shot in a Mira Road studio.”

That detail alone says plenty about the scale and tone of the film, which is being mounted as a slick action thriller under Siddharth Anand’s direction. Backed by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, the film brings together a formidable ensemble that includes Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi, and Rani Mukerji.

What makes the development especially striking is how seamlessly Deepika fits into the film’s world. King is built around a mentor-disciple journey with danger, emotion, and spectacle at its core, a space that aligns naturally with the kind of high-gloss, physically demanding cinema she has increasingly embraced. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on 24 December 2026, and Deepika’s early involvement in its action portions signals that her part is being positioned with real weight inside the narrative.

Deepika Padukone’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Deepika’s recent run makes King feel less like a surprise casting beat and more like the next logical move in her career. Over the last few years, she has consistently gravitated toward large-canvas films that combine star presence with action, visual scale, and franchise ambition. In 2023, she played a central role in Pathaan, Siddharth Anand’s blockbuster with Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham, before making a special appearance in Jawan the same year.

Her 2024 slate showed just how comfortably she now occupies the event-film space. She moved from the aerial action of Fighter, co-starring Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor, to the futuristic spectacle of Kalki 2898 AD, which paired her with Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan. She then closed the year with Singham Again, stepping into the cop-universe setup as DCP Shakti Shetty. Taken together, those choices underline a clear career rhythm: Deepika is leaning into ambitious mainstream worlds where scale and screen command matter equally.

That trajectory now continues with King, a confirmed theatrical release for 2026. Database listings also mention Raaka for 2027. For Deepika, the new shoot update is not just a production milestone, it is another sign that she remains firmly at the centre of Bollywood’s biggest mounted stories.
